It is really difficult to chose "favorite" photos from a whole year of point and shoot. And yet, as I scroll down over the year, some just appeal to me at a gut level. This photo of Regee's pinakbet makes me hungry. That's what gut level means!
It might not be an intrinsically good photo (some are taken with my ancient iPhone), but it might be a funny moment, a happy memory, a certain "look" which you haven't noticed before, or just a loaf of bread that has somehow become a work of art.
Have a look and see if any of them appeal to you. And then ask yourself why. It is really difficult to know but I have tried to explain my choices in brief captions. Click "Read more" below to see the photos.

Paul just looks so relaxed and content--the opposite of his wired little dog, Slim!!
I turned a corner in the National Arboretum and there it was--so unexpected--a Chinese garden.
Regee's friends at lunch time--they just exploded in laugher when
I pointed the camera at them and said ngiti-ngiti

Yes, I took this photo. It is a photo of a painting! It looks so real. That water.
Max's face in the back seat of his Dad's Porsche convertible
as we reach "ludicrous speed" (remember Spaceballs)?

A riot of color--but carefully planted and color-coordinated--at the National Arboretum.
Sarah tried to pick her her new rescue dog but collapsed in laughter when Maggie went dead dog!
Veronica in her ballet costume. What can I say--a little angel?
Commemorating the moon landing. It looks like the Washington Monument might take off.
Johnny looks as still and upright as the little cabin behind him. Same color too!
The blend of colors and the intricate lines of the plant life.
Sunshine through foliage against a blue lake and blue sky.
Spring blossom and an unexpected American flag.
Regee's mini Pavolvas looked so enticing that I had two of them!
Two models! Love that grey color.
Color, texture, heart of the matter, Georgia O'Keefe style.
Evening sunshine, Max hurtling in to get the ball--light and movement.
I made this cake for Sarah's birthday. When the candles were put in, I noticed the blue in the tablecloth. The cake was suddenly transformed.
Late afternoon sun on salt marshes in Essex, MA. It looked like a photo in real life.
Unreal. Have a look at this same photo at the end of the whole blog.

When is a loaf not a loaf? When it is a work of art. It is solid air.
Sun and sky reflected in the glass.
Colors, oil, texture, yumminess!
The juxtaposition of the horses and their contrasting colors.
