Bangkok Blast!

I only have a short time to to upload a few photos of our three days in Bangkok with Ivo and Gracita.  They are now in their new digs at the Swiss Residence and Embassy (which are both part of the same rather large complex).  In other words, Ivo's commute to the office consists of walking through a door in the Residence, down a short corridor and he is there!  No Beltway, no Bangkok traffic, no effort, no strife.  I want to be a diplomat in the next life!

The Swiss Embassy/Residence complex is one one of the few big plots of land left in this part of Bangkok just off Wireless Road.  The Brits and, I think, the Canadians have similar plots in this area.

Looking out of the sitting room window into the garden, you would not think you were in the heart of downtown Bangkok.  Total peace and quiet.

Here is the whole gang.  Standing from L to R: Pia, our friend who came with us, Khun Kong who is the amazing cook at the Residence, Gracita and Regee, while seated, from L to R is me, Ivo and Mama.  We were about to to have our first dinner in the Residence--you will have to wait for the photos at a later time to see why I am at least 10 lbs heavier than when I arrived!

Delish lunch at local resto--Baan Soton

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.....

.....dinner awaited us

We all had to dress in black or grey or white during the mourning period.
Can you spot the outlier above--some shoes were not in mourning!

I will leave you for now with this intriguing photo of the night they pulled out all the stops.  That is Regee, Khun Ratana who looked after us all the time we were there, and Pia.

I will do more back in Trumpland.  (Not thinking about it, or mentioning it, or getting worked up about it, or being nasty about it,  or thinking of moving to Eritrea or........).
