Sunday Morning Walk

Instead of doing my usual walk along the C&O Canal last Sunday, I went down at dawn to the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington Cemetery for a meander among the monuments.

There was absolutely nobody about but there was just enough early morning breeze  to make the flag unfurl.  And in the distance, Washington D.C. looked all peachy and peaceful.  If only it was always like this!

Have a look at a few more photos below.

It commemorates, among others, the battles of Bataan and Corregidor in the Philippines

Arlington Cemetery--still locked at 6 a.m. so this was taken over the wall

Our old town house (middle) on Oak Street right behind Iwo Jima.
The crepe myrtle we planted is almost as big as the house now!
