Instead of doing my usual walk along the C&O Canal last Sunday, I went down at dawn to the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington Cemetery for a meander among the monuments.
There was absolutely nobody about but there was just enough early morning breeze to make the flag unfurl. And in the distance, Washington D.C. looked all peachy and peaceful. If only it was always like this!
