Whenever I watch the PBS News Hour these days, I always think of Gwen Ifil. Hard to believe that it is one year since she passed away.
Her voice was a rare one. She dealt with every subject in a calm, rational and thoughtful manner. Her eyes had that special look of "I'm having the time of my life" because she was doing exactly what she loved every day of the year.
I can only wonder what she might have made of today's wild and ever more surreal politics. However, I do know that she would be commenting on everything with great relish, good humor and an intelligence that always illuminated and uplifted, whatever the subject matter. She is a shining beacon and constant inspiration in these troubled times.
