MY GUIDING PHILOSOPHY: EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED, MAINTAIN SOME SORT OF BALANCE,
PUSH HARD AGAINST ADVERSE WINDS, AND DON'T TAKE YOURSELF TOO SERIOUSLY.

Digging Up D.C.

When we came out of the Smithsonian Metro today, we were greeted by the sound of bulldozers and a cloud of dust which stung our eyes.  What was happening?

For a moment, it seemed like The Donald or Bernie Sanders had won the election and were getting rid of Washington, Congress (loud cheers!) and who knows what else.  But as we wandered among the piles of debris and the lopsided chain link fences, we saw a large sign that asked: “WHAT’S HAPPENING?”  You have to hand it to these Washington guys--they anticipate your every question.

Turns out that they are laying new water pipes along a section of the National Mall and will be laying down new grass which will withstand the foot traffic and stomping when the new President is elected.  Either that or it is Obama’s final attempt to get a national infrastructure project underway before his time runs out.  Let’s hope it is finished before January 2017 and that The Donald and Bernie Sanders and Hillary and Jeb and Marco and Bobbie and Scott and Carly etc will be happy with the result.  Whoever gets elected, she or he will have to pay for the clean up!
