For the last three weeks, Regee has been working night and day to set up a blog for
CHOP. It went “live” a few days ago. If you have been wondering what
CHOP is all about, what it has been doing and what it hopes to do in the future, please go to:

In 2011 Regee set up a non-profit organization called
Culinary Historians of the Philippines (CHOP), based in Manila, Philippines. It is a sister organization of Culinary Historians of Washington DC (CHoW-DC) to which we have belonged for many years.
Regee was the Founding President but has recently handed over the reins to the new President, Pia Lim-Castillo, who is just as energetic as Regee and who also seems to send out e-mails in the middle of the night! Regee is now a member of
CHOP’s Advisory Board.

On various visits to Manila, I have attended a number of
CHOP activities that I have blogged about here. Now you can get all the news straight from
CHOP’s blog. I think it is a wonderful achievement--both
CHOP and the brand new
CHOP blog--and I wish Regee, Pia and all
CHOP’s officers and members every success in the future.

Many thanks for the shout-out. We in CHOP are are all looking forward to more productive years. We now have 70 members (and counting), from the small group of 7 friends who started it in 2011. I hope people find the time to visit our new blog site and post comments!
