Leaving Forest Garden Farm, we headed for lunch (hey, this is a food trip!) at Sulyap Gallery Cafe.
Quite apart from lunch, we are treated to an outdoor cooking demonstration of a classic and unique San Pablo dish: Kulawong puso ng saging at talong.
Roy Empalmado, owner of Sulyap, explains the ingredients of the dish
There’s no smoke without fire--our chef gets the fire going
A blazing fire is soon underway in the brick stove
Hot charcoal is put into the grated coconut to give it an unique smoky flavor
Kulawong puso ng saging at talong is bubbling away
