Welcome to my first ever blog. It's about anything and everything. That way I won't run out of material too quickly. And I am going to do it after breakfast each day. Well, almost every day. Maybe once a week or fortnight. No need to go overboard.
Yep, that's me up there. I chose it because it more or less sums up my outlook on life: expect the unpredictable, maintain some sort of balance, push back against adverse winds and don't take yourself too seriously.
It took me 65 years to get around to setting up a blog but I blame that on terminal procrastination and the inability to follow needlessly complex technical instructions like "Click Here" or "Continue."
Talking of winds, my mind has definitely been focused on the elements lately. Last Tuesday, we were jolted by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake here in the Old Dominion. As if that wasn't enough, on Saturday evening Hurricane Irene came barreling up the I-95 from North Carolina with winds of 85mph and above. Did they advance the Rapture without telling us? Like I said, expect the unpredictable.
By the way, have you ever been to Patagonia? Remind me to write about that one day. There are wild horses everywhere, excellent Malbec and some serious glaciers. Travel is one of my passions so expect photos and tedious accounts of strange places, strange happenings and strange people. (That is not a reference to the Tea Party but I will sometimes be tempted to rant about politics).
Also expect reviews of movies and books and intermittent discussion of the problems of gardening in clay and brick ends. Having just invested in a Nikon D7000 SLR, I might also post a few photos as I move beyond years of point and shoot with my trusty but outdated Lumix ZS3.
Anyway, enough with the introduction. Read on....

Love that quirky banner photo of yours! Was that in Switzerland when we vacationed with the Siebers?
ReplyDeleteActually, it was on the Island of Grinda in Sweden!! Do you really think the Swiss would let you balance precariously near Lake Zurich?
